Hitler proposed that Kahr join forces with him to launch a coup against the Weimar government in Berlin, but Kahr got cold feet and backed out.

However, Kahr, along with Police Chief Hans Ritter von Seisser and Reichswehr General Otto von Lossow, wanted to install a nationalist dictatorship without Hitler.

Gregor Strasser was a member of the Nazi party and had been active in that Beer Hall putsch. In 1932, he conspired with Kurt von Schleicher, who hoped to prevent Hitler's takeover, but this plot failed.
