Frustrated by their inability to agree terms with Charles I, and with his brother Charles out of reach in France, Parliament considered making James king.

Henry de Champflower died between 1331 and 1346 when his widow Joan was in possession. In 1349 John Champflower was lord of the manor, and two years later he granted Wyke to Thomas FitzJames, husband of Margaret who was evidently his heiress, in return for a rent for his life.
