16 de may. de 2024 · Sir Henry Percy (born May 20, 1364—died July 21, 1403, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England) was an English rebel who led the most serious of the uprisings against King Henry IV (reigned 1399–1413). His fame rests to a large extent on his inclusion as a major character in William Shakespeare’s Henry IV.

When Henry Bolingbroke overthrew King Richard II and became King Henry IV, he had enjoyed the support of both the Earl of Westmorland and Earl of Northumberland. By 1403, however, the Percy family had become disenchanted and were a key part of the revolts against the fledgling Lancastrian regime.

Henry IV’s reign featured numerous rebellions including one that was led by Henry Percy and his son Henry, famously known as Harry Hotspur.

The 8th Baron Clifford was also hacked to pieces in the middle of the street, his blood and that of many others mixed with mud and stone.

Hace 5 días · Aske determined to make Henry Percy, sixth Earl of Northumberland, the commander-in-chief. Percy, who had been a lover of Anne Boleyn, was the Warden of the East and Middle Marches. The earl was afraid to join them; but the pilgrims demanded the earl's brothers, Thomas and Ingram, in spite of the tears and remonstrances of their mother.
