11 de may. de 2024 · Henry Beaufort, 3rd duke of Somerset (born 1436—died May 15, 1464, Hexham, Northumberland, England) was a leading Lancastrian in the English Wars of the Roses. He was the eldest son of Edmund Beaufort, the 2nd duke.

Charles's heir was his eldest son, Henry Somerset (d. 1549), 2nd Earl who succeeded to most of his fathers Welsh offices. He extended the family influence further in Wales when he became steward and chancellor of Brecon and constable of the castle in 1523.

18 de may. de 2024 · Edmund Beaufort, 2nd duke of Somerset, English nobleman and Lancastrian leader who wielded enormous power in the government of the weak king Henry VI. Somerset’s quarrel with Richard, duke of York, helped precipitate the Wars of the Roses (1455–85) between the houses of Lancaster and York.
Hace 2 días · Her heir was her cousin John Seymour (d. 1491) whose son Sir John (d. 1536) was father of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII's queen, and of Edward Seymour (cr. earl of Hertford 1537, duke of Somerset 1547). Edward held West Bower from 1536 until his attainder and death in 1552, when the manor was forfeit to the Crown.
