He previously held Cabinet positions under prime minister Margaret Thatcher, his last as chancellor of the Exchequer from 1989 to 1990.

Its very romantic and has a beginning, middle and end meaning the film functions well as a standalone story. If the character's name was changed from Bond to something else, it would be a unique 60s action film.
