The current head of the Swedish Royal Family is King Carl XVI Gustaf, who ascended to the throne on 15 September 1973.

Specifically, Bernadotte was appointed to negotiate between the Israeli and Palestinian sides, after Israel’s so-called “War of Independence” in 1948, and in accordance with UN Resolution 181 (the above-mentioned “ Partition Plan ”).
