Emich Carl was a wealthy nobleman who had inherited the Principality of Leiningen, an estate of over 1,700 square kilometers, in 1803 at age 39. Victoria was his second wife and a princess of the House of Wettin by birth.

She is buried in the Jetenburger cemetery. The erection of a memorial in neo-gothic style was ordered by Queen Victoria and reminds visitors of the cemetery of Louise Lehzen until today.
