Hace 3 días · The villa was commissioned by Cardinal Ippolito II d’Este, the history of its construction is linked to the events of the papacy and Cardinal d’Este. He was appointed as the governor for the life of Tivoli and its territory by Pope Julius III as thanks for the help for his election as pontiff (so we are talking about half of the 16th century).
