Hace 2 días · The 1st Marquess of Bute and his grandson, the 2nd Marquess, b. 10 August 1793 (who at first bore the courtesy title of Earl of Windsor, but became Earl of Dumfries on the death of his maternal grandfather in 1803) were Lords until 1814, when the 1st Marquess died.

As prime minister (1762–63), he negotiated the peace ending the Seven Years’ War (1756–63) with France, but he failed to create a stable.

28 de may. de 2024 · The Hon. John Stuart of Cardiff Castle was the eldest son of John, fourth Earl of Bute, who was created Marquis of Bute 21 March 1796, and grandson of the third Earl, who was Prime Minister 1762–3. His mother was the eldest daughter of the last Viscount Windsor ( see 1734.)

It was interrupted in 1649 by the establishment of the Commonwealth but was restored in 1660. It ended in 1714, when the British crown passed to the house of Hanover.
