The couple had two sons: Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965) and his brother, John Strange "Jack" Spencer-Churchill (4 February 1880 – 23 February 1947).

In 1876, Churchill's paternal grandfather, John Spencer-Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough, was appointed Viceroy of Ireland, then part of the United Kingdom. Randolph became his private secretary and the family relocated to Dublin.
