John was born to Leroy and Mildred (McHugh) Dudley on February 1, 1948, in Batesville, Indiana. He married Sandra Clair and together they raised 4 children. John served his country in the Air Force in Vietnam.

According to the notice, Dudley was last seen on April 20 in Taos. Another notice circulating on social media, however, lists his last known location as Valdez.
