Judith, wife of Sir Walter Burrell of Knepp Castle, who later gave it to her son Mark, but Lady Anne Lytton's nephew John Lytton, Lord Knebworth, still owned and lived in Newbuildings Place in 1984; in 1985 he succeeded his father as earl of Lytton.
