25 de jun. de 2024 · Ralph Montagu's position was further strengthened in 1705 by the marriage of his son and heir to Mary, daughter of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough and Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough. In the same year he was created Duke of Montagu and Marquess of Monthermer.
30 de jun. de 2024 · Montagu House is a palatial residence in the French Renaissance style, constructed in Portland stone, with a high-pitched and turretted slate roof. The prominent chimney stacks and the gabled dormers with the high roof, relieve an otherwise somewhat featureless exterior (Plate 101).

Hace 2 días · A fragment of 14th-century glass is set in the south window of the transept, a small rood surrounded by quarries ornamented with oak leaves and acorns. In the west window is a small shield in which are the arms, Fitz Hugh quartered with Marmion impaling Nevill quartered with Montagu and Monthermer.

15 de jun. de 2024 · Edward Montagu, Viscount Hinchingbrooke (3 January 1648 – 29 November 1688) was the eldest son of Edward Montagu, 1st Earl of Sandwich and "My Lady" Jemima Crew Montagu. He was styled Viscount Hinchingbrooke from 1660 until his accession in 1672.
