Hace 4 días · The estate passed, with Moorland manor in North Petherton, to Sir John Seymour, and from him to his son Edward, duke of Somerset. On the duke's attainder and execution in 1552 his son John claimed the manor as the inheritance of his mother, the duke's first wife.
31 de may. de 2024 · The house was occupied by Sir John Seymour when sheriff in 1515–16, but for the remainder of the 16th century was let to the Rawe family, the tenant in 1596 collecting the lord's rents and providing lodging for up to seven of his officers twice a year.
30 de may. de 2024 · John Seymour, uncle and heir to the last, died childless in 1675 when the manor passed to his sister Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Bruce, earl of Ailesbury. Elizabeth sold the manor in 1684 to Anthony Ettrick, his son William, and his son-in-law William Player for £23,000.

I also listed the Seymour family as the holders of the Dukedom of Somerset due to the Dukedom being currently held by John Seymour, 19th Duke of Somerset (b. 1952), of the Seymour family. The current Duke of Norfolk is Edward Fitzalan-Howard, 18th Duke of Norfolk (b. 1956).
