Barry Sharpless possui antiga relação de colaborações científicas com o Instituto de Química de São Carlos (IQSC) da USP, onde já esteve algumas vezes.

2 de may. de 2024 · Two-time Nobel laureate K. Barry Sharpless, who shared the 2022 Nobel Prize in chemistry with Bertozzi and Morten Meldal, also recently received a custom-made guitar as a gift. Sharpless’s guitar was made by luthier Paul Reed Smith, who has also created instruments for the likes of Carlos Santana and John Mayer.
Hace 4 días · Also the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to John Bardeen twice, as was the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Frederick Sanger and Karl Barry Sharpless. Two laureates have been awarded twice but not in the same field: Marie Curie (Physics and Chemistry) and Linus Pauling (Chemistry and Peace).
