Kim Novak is an iconic figure of Hollywood’s Golden Age and yet I realised when this new boxset became available that I didn’t know much of her work that well. Beyond that famous Vertigo performance, I had seen Novak in several other films but none had stuck in my mind in the same way.

After a series of supporting roles, Harry Cohn decided that it was time for Novak to sustain a film on her own.
