Hace 4 días · A history of the building is contained in the Rev. H. A. Wilson's Magdalen College (University of Oxford College Histories, 1899), a work made easier by the earlier labours and researches of Dr. J. R. Bloxam, Rev. W. D. Macray, and Mr. J. C. Buckler.

On 5 May 1474 the foundation stone of the Chapel was laid by President Tybard and blessed by Bishop Robert Tully of St David’s. 550 years later, the College will be celebrating the Anniversary of this event with a series of ceremonies, services and seminars.
Hace 3 días · Magdalen College. (15) Magdalen College stands on the N. side of High Street, immediately W. of the river Cherwell. The walls are of local Oxfordshire stone and the roofs are covered with slates and lead. The college was founded in 1458 by William of Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester.
