Hace 2 días · The Ballet Russe choreographer, Michel Fokine, initiated what is one the best known dances for the legendary Anna Pavlova in 1905. The piece milks the emotional responses of the audience seeing the death throes of the graceful swan. Here the dancer, Olga Supphozova, literally ruffles her feathers. Her tutu is stuffed with them.

Eventually Diaghilev’s encouragement of Nijinsky as a budding choreographer soured his relationship with Fokine.

Hace 6 días · During a visit to Villa Senar in 1937, Rachmaninoff entered talks with choreographer Michel Fokine about a ballet based on Niccolò Paganini that was to feature his rhapsody. It premiered in London in 1939 with the composer's daughters in attendance.
