On 22 September 1987, Hirohito underwent surgery on his pancreas after having digestive problems for several months. The doctors discovered that he had duodenal cancer. Hirohito appeared to be making a full recovery for several months after the surgery.

Hace 4 días · Known to history as Miyamoto Musashi, this famed fencer from the early days of the Edo period (1603–1868) originally hails from an extremely rural part of Okayama Prefecture called Mimasaka. For the longest time, I’ve been itching to make a pilgrimage to Musashi’s birthplace to pay homage to the impact much of his thinking has had on my life.

There are multiple types of bushido which evolved significantly through history.
Hace 2 días · According to some of his accounts, Nichiren undertook his study of Buddhism to largely understand why the kami had seemingly abandoned Japan, as witnessed by the decline of the imperial court. Because the court and the people had turned to teachings that had weakened their minds and resolve, he came to conclude, both people of wisdom and the protective forces had abandoned the nation.
