It is an excellent opportunity to see the wonderful architecture of Alphonse Balat, the mentor of Victor Horta, and the many plants in the greenhouses.
4 de may. de 2024 · In 1873 King Leopold II and architect AlphonseBalat designed the Royal Greenhouses of Laeken. Over 31 years they built a complex of 7 stunning Art Nouveau greenhouses built entirely of metal and glass. Influenced by the Chrystal Palace at the Great Exhibition in 1851 King Leopold wanted to build something similar in his palace garden.

On this day, 21 July 1831, Leopold I arrived in Brussels to be crowned the first monarch of Belgium.
