Hace 2 días · Contents. Descendants of Christian IX of Denmark. Christian IX of Denmark (April 8, 1818 – January 29, 1906) ruled Denmark from 1863 to 1906. Known as the " father-in-law of Europe ", [1] he and his wife, Louise of Hesse-Kassel (September 7, 1817 – September 29, 1898), became the ancestors of many members of European royalty.

Upon Wilhelm's death at the age of ninety on 9 March 1888, the thrones passed to Frederick, who had been German Crown Prince for seventeen years and Crown Prince of Prussia for twenty-seven years.

He was born as the youngest son of Hereditary Prince Frederick of Hesse-Kassel (the future Landgrave Frederick II ) and Princess Mary of Great Britain .
