Sir Richard de Brus (died 1287), Lord of Writtle was an English knight from Essex, commanding a Knight banneret for Edward I. He was a younger son of Robert de Brus, 5th Lord of Annandale and Isabella de Clare .
Richard de Brus was the younger son of Robert de Bruce (born in 1210) and his first wife Isobel, the daughter of Gilbert de Clare. His parents' marriage occurred about 1240 when Isobel was only about 13 years old, and Richard was born about 1250.
