28 de may. de 2024 · In his retirement, as Earl of Orford, Walpole lived here till his death, March 18th, 1745. John Ranby, the surgeon to the Hospital, attended him during his illness, writing afterwards an account of it, which was published.
30 de may. de 2024 · On His Lordship's decease without issue, in 1751, the barony of Clinton and Say devolved to Margaret, only daughter of Samuel Rolle, Esq. (only brother of Bridget above-mentioned), then recently become the widow of Robert Walpole, second Earl of Orford.
Hace 4 días · The statue stands upon a square pedestal, upon which is an inscription which states that she was the first wife of Sir Robert Walpole, afterwards Earl of Orford, and that " 'Horace, her youngest son,' consecrated this monument," as we have said above.
