Robert (II) de Bruce (Brus) was the second son of Robert (I) (d.1142), lord of Annandale, and his wife, Agnes, probable daughter of Geoffrey Bainard, sheriff of York. Upon his father's death, he inherited Annandale and Hartness in Durham. He had a brother, Adam (d.1143).
