(d. 1688), whose heir was his sister Mary, wife of (Sir) Thomas Hales. Sir Thomas was succeeded in 1748 by his son Sir Thomas (d. 1762).

  4. 2 de may. de 2024 · Thomas Bruce, 1st Earl of Elgin. Anne Chichester. Robert Bruce, 1st Earl of Ailesbury (later styled Aylesbury) and 2nd Earl of Elgin, PC, FRS (ca. March 1626 – 20 October 1685), was a Scottish politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1660 to 1663, when he inherited his father's title as Earl of Elgin .

  5. In 1685 Elizabeth and her husband Thomas Bruce, later Earl of Ailesbury (d. 1741), conveyed Midgehall to Lawrence Hyde, Earl of Rochester (d. 1711). The earl had bought the manor of Wootton Bassett in 1676 and thenceforth Midgehall followed the same descent as that manor.

(fn. 53) Elizabeth died in 1697, leaving a son Charles, who succeeded to the earldoms of Elgin and Ailesbury in 1741 and died in 1747, leaving no surviving issue.
