Hace 1 día · Venetia maritima viene eretta nel 697 a ducato dipendente dall'Esarcato di Ravenna, con capitale prima a Eracliana e quindi a Metamauco. A seguito della tentata invasione franca di Pipino (Carlomanno) , nell' 821 la più sicura Rialto diviene capitale del Ducato di Venezia , assumendo nel tempo il nome stesso del territorio e dello Stato e diventando definitivamente Venezia [28] .
