30 de jun. de 2024 · The house in Bulstrode Park was erected by the Duke of Somerset between 1855 and 1865 on the site of a house built by the notorious Judge Jeffreys in 1686 and enlarged by William Bentinck, the first Earl of Portland. On a hill to the south-east of the house are ancient earthworks.
Hace 4 días · After this the honor of Penrith remained in the crown till 1696, when it was granted to William Bentinck, Earl of Portland. It is now the property of the Duke of Devonshire, whose father purchased it of the late Duke of Portland in 1787.
