Directed by him, Lieutenant William Denison, determined the strength for construction purposes of old growth timber in the vicinity of Bytown, findings commended by the Institution of Civil Engineers in England.

(fn. 178) Marmont died in 1862, (fn. 179) and in 1872 the Peckstreet estate was purchased from his trustees by Samuel Marling of Stanley Park.

After Thomas Jr.'s death in 1685, his widow Sarah married 2nd, Capt. William Denison. They had three children: William (bpt. 1686), Sarah (bpt.1689), and George (bpt. 1692).
