5 de may. de 2024 · William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke (1423–1469) took the surname Herbert.[10][11] William's allegiance to Richard, Duke of York, and Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, branded him Edward IV's Welsh "master-lock". He was the first full-blooded Welshman to enter the English peerage and he was knighted in 1452.

As such, she was the niece of Queen Kateryn Parr. Lady Anne married Sir Francis, Lord Talbot. Lord Talbot was the son of Sir George Talbot, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury and his first wife, Lady Gertrude Manners.

19 de may. de 2024 · All their influence in central and North Wales reverted to the house of Pembroke. Most of the South Wales offices passed to William Herbert, 1st Earl of the second creation. However, William's eldest son, Edward Somerset (1553-1628), 4th Earl, recovered parts of the family's Welsh influence.
22 de may. de 2024 · These estates, together with many other properties formerly belonging to the abbey, were granted to Sir William Herbert, later Earl of Pembroke, in 1541. The grant was confirmed in 1544 and the properties have remained in the Pembroke family ever since.
