(fn. 45) The manor passed with the dukedom to William's uncle, John Seymour (d. 1675), and then to William's sister Elizabeth (d. 1697), wife of Thomas Bruce, earl of Ailesbury (d. 1741).

  4. 19 de may. de 2024 · Her heir was her cousin John Seymour (d. 1491) whose son Sir John (d. 1536) was father of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII's queen, and of Edward Seymour (cr. earl of Hertford 1537, duke of Somerset 1547). Edward held West Bower from 1536 until his attainder and death in 1552, when the manor was forfeit to the Crown.

  5. Hace 2 días · The estate passed, with Moorland manor in North Petherton, to Sir John Seymour, and from him to his son Edward, duke of Somerset. (fn. 157) On the duke's attainder and execution in 1552 his son John claimed the manor as the inheritance of his mother, the duke's first wife.
