He abdicated in 1917 but was killed, along with his wife, Alexandra, and their children, by the Bolsheviks the following year.

Hace 1 día · He is credited with being the author of some 300 sculptures in his lifetime, including at least 5 monuments to Emperor Peter I of Russia. In the early 1880s he temporarily moved to Russia, where he made about 30 busts of celebrated Russians, including authors, playwright and composers. In 1885 he settled in Paris, often returning to St. Petersburg.

Autumn is my favourite time of year to visit Russia.
