Founded in 1002 by King (later Emperor) Heinrich II (Henry II), the sturdy Romanesque Bamberger Dom St. Peter und St. Georg was completed in the 13 th Century. There is not much to shout about from the outside but step inside for its treasures.

Its four dramatic towers are one of the town’s most recognizable landmarks. King Heinrich II (Henry II) established the cathedral in 1002, and it holds his remains today, along with his spouse Cunigunde.
