Lee had previously appeared with Karloff in 1955 in the "At Night, All Cats are Grey" episode of the British television series Colonel March of Scotland Yard. Karloff and Lee were London neighbours for a time in the mid-1960s.
His daughter, Sarah Karloff, said when they first wrapped him in the Mummy costume, they forgot to put in a fly in the front. His last name was Pratt, which at the time in England meant a stupid or foolish person. Boris changed his last name to Karloff to become an actor.
