Hace 4 días · Christ Church Cathedral. The church is of great architectural interest, the late 12th-century work and the presbytery vault are both highly remarkable. Among the fittings the glass and monuments are noteworthy. Architectural Description—The Presbytery (68 ft. by 20 ft.) is of five bays (Plate 88) and mainly of late 12th-century date.
23 de may. de 2024 · The music that came up is the piece I call “Christ Church”. It emerged pretty much exactly as I play it today, some forty four years later; note for note. Back when I used to do recitals and small concerts, I introduced it by saying that I can’t really say that I composed it. I just happened to be the first person to play it.

Hace 3 días · Two areas found to be extra-parochial in 1876 were Port Meadow, presumably because it was common for the burgesses of several parishes, and Christ Church Meadow, presumably because it was former monastic land.
Just thought I'd post some pics of Christ Church Meadow this morning and then of Magdalen College and the glorious Addison's Walk that's in the college's grounds. Absolutely wondrous, Oxford really is the jewel in heaven's crown.
