Clark Gable. Actor: It Happened One Night. William Clark Gable was born on February 1, 1901 in Cadiz, Ohio, to Adeline (Hershelman) and William Henry Gable, an oil-well driller. He was of German, Irish, and Swiss-German descent.
He won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in It Happened One Night ( Frank Capra ). Other notable Clark Gable movies include The Misfits ( Marilyn Monroe , Montgomery Clift) and Run Silent, Run Deep ( Burt Lancaster , Robert Wise ).
