The movie introduces us to new characters like Lucy to keep things fresh, expanding the Despicable Me universe and deepening our connection with Gru and his family.
I remember walking out of the theater to this one in 2013 and thinking “that’s probably the best sequel they could’ve possibly made there”. Maybe the fact I’d just been burned by Monsters University made me more charitable towards it, but I’ve always liked Despicable Me 2.
