Hace 6 días · The Renaissance, a pivotal period of rebirth and creative explosion in European history, originated in Italy in the 14th century before spreading to the rest of the continent in the 1500s and 1600s. But why did this immense cultural movement begin in Italy specifically?
22 de may. de 2024 · I find Stephen Bowd's review of The Renaissance in Italy: A Social and Cultural History of the Rinascimento both thoughtful and generous. Although at times it may stretch a bit to connect the book's arguments to broader issues or other major scholarly works, such attempts to rethink the period and its implications are precisely the goal of the work and my broader scholarly project over the years.
