Personally I struggled to get through HIMYM's first season as well and didn't start liking it until the second so I think HIMYF would've also gotten a lot better at season 3 going forward. But I do agree that the cast doesn't hold a candle to the original.

I really want ABC to revive How I Met Your Father after the Hulu cancellation, i’m sure it was due to the strike and Bob Iger. But one of the cast members of HIMYF says they’re working on bringing this show back one day and I do hope it could replace it and appropriate time too since the 20th anniversary of HIMYM is next year.
