15 de may. de 2024 · Orange Moll hired Nell and her elder sister Rose as scantily-clad 'orange-girls', selling the small, sweet "china" oranges to the audience inside the theatre for a sixpence each. The work exposed her to the theatre and to London's higher society: this was "the King's playhouse", and King Charles II frequently attended performances.
10 de may. de 2024 · The royal box was situated on stage with red drapes surrounding it. The chequered thrust stage was reminiscent of The Globe’s production of ‘Nell Gwynn’. It was a nice touch having the orange sellers ‘selling’ their oranges before the performance. The songs and dances were well performed by the company.
19 de may. de 2024 · A challenging choice indeed, with comedy at the forefront even before the show starts, with the Gwynn sisters offering their oranges in the bar and in the aisles, and rowdy theatregoers cat-calling from the stalls.
22 de may. de 2024 · As part of their final year of study, third-year students from the University’s Acting course joined together to feature in two stage productions – Nell Gwynn and The Sweet Science of Bruising – which were on display to the public from 16-18 May at local theatre, The Royal and Derngate.
