One of the opposing alliances was led by Great Britain and Prussia. The other alliance was led by France, backed by Spain, Saxony, Sweden, and Russia.

Hidalgo was the second child born to Cristóbal Hidalgo and his wife.
Basically it was between two major colonial powers Great Britian and France from 1756–63. Britian was backed by Prussia, Portugal, while France was in alliance with Spain, Swedish Empire, Russia and Holy Roman Empire, led by Austria. In fact would say this was the first major global conflict ever across all continents.

By the 1730's the city was indeed well established as the social capital of Yorkshire and perhaps of an even wider area.
