Only about one-third of the original text survives, including the famous “Dream of Scipio” section, which describes the afterlife and the soul’s immortality. Cicero on Government: On the Laws (De legibus) De legibus, or On the Laws, is a companion piece to De re publica.
The Laws (Greek: Νόμοι, Nómoi; Latin: De Legibus) is Plato's last and longest dialogue. The conversation depicted in the work's twelve books begins with the question of who is given the credit for establishing a civilization's laws.
