Hace 2 días · At this time Georgina Hogarth, another sister of Catherine, joined the Dickens household, now living at Devonshire Terrace, Marylebone to care for the young family they had left behind. She remained with them as housekeeper, organiser, adviser and friend until Dickens's death in 1870.
21 de may. de 2024 · Thomson died in 1851, leaving two sons and six daughters. One daughter, Georgina, married George Hogarth, the Edinburgh music critic, historian, and Writer to the Signet. In 1836 the Hogarths' daughter Catherine married Charles Dickens.

11 de may. de 2024 · The jury is out! Given that it appears to have been supplied to The Strand by Georgina Hogarth it has good provenance, although, as Frances noted in her report, it lacks the features that distinguish Dickens’s mature shorthand style.

This beautiful life-size painting of four children is by William Hogarth, who also specialized in engravings such as Gin Lane. It was commissioned by Daniel Graham, a rich apothecary (pharmacist) to the royal family and to Chelsea Hospital in London.
