22 de may. de 2024 · In February 1938 Hitler invited the Austrian chancellor Kurt von Schuschnigg to Germany and forced him to agree to give the Austrian Nazis virtually a free hand. Earlier in the decade Austria had turned to Italy for support, but by this time Italian leader Benito Mussolini had abandoned the idea of intervening to protect Austria.
