This is a photo of Margaret Hamilton, who surprisingly played the Wicked Witch of the West in the 1939 adaptation of “The Wizard of Oz”. This photo was taken much before the movie, however, Margaret was about 36 when she got the role of the witch.
The program debuted on October 4th, 1953 with Orson Welles starring in an adaptation of Alexander Pushkin’s “The Queen of Spades.”. Pushkin wrote “The Queen of Spades” in the fall of 1833.
