Hace 1 día · Margaret Lea Houston. In 1837, after becoming President of the Republic of Texas, he was able to acquire, from a district court judge, a divorce from Eliza Allen. In 1839, he purchased a horse which became one of the foundation sires of the American Quarter Horse breed named Copperbottom. He owned the horse until its death in 1860.

12 de may. de 2024 · Founded in 1839, Prairie Lea is the oldest town in the county, with Edmund Bellinger being its first resident. In honor of Margaret Lea Houston, his future wife, Sam Houston named the town. In March 1845, the legislature created Caldwell County by combining Bastrop and Gonzales Counties.
