22 de may. de 2024 · Sultan Murad II laid siege to Constantinople in 1422, but he was forced to lift it in order to suppress a rebellion elsewhere in the empire. In 1444 he lost an important battle to a Christian alliance in the Balkans and abdicated the throne to his son, Mehmed II.
Hace 2 días · In 1443–1444 Murad II built the Uzunköprü Bridge, a long stone bridge accompanied by a mosque complex, on the road between Istanbul and Edirne. Soon after the sultan's foundation in Skopje, the governor Ishak Bey sponsored his own zaviye complex in the same city, completed in 1438–1439.
