4 de may. de 2024 · That 1957 album is a delight, and it’s the only meeting of the two Sonnys, Rollins and Clark. (To avoid confusion, I’ll refer to our saxophonist as “Sonny” or “Rollins,” but I’ll always call the pianist “Clark.”)

The supremely swinging pianist Sonny Clark hit the Blue Note scene in 1957 with a burst of creativity recording three albums in three months including the sublime Sonny Clark Trio, a 6-song set of bebop themes and standards featuring bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Philly Joe Jones.
