Allmusic described it as "one of Bley's most enjoyable albums". Rough Guide author Ian Carr calls the album "classic and highly influential" stating that the "quiet, focused intensity persists throughout."

17 de jul. de 2024 · In 1964, composer Carla Bley wrote a piece celebrating trailblazing filmmaker Ida Lupino, the only working female director within the ‘50s conservative and male-dominated Hollywood studio system. The song was composed for her then-husband, pianist Paul Bley.
