23 de may. de 2024 · Words of Old Norse origin have entered the English language, primarily from the contact between Old Norse and Old English during colonisation of eastern and northern England between the mid 9th to the 11th centuries (see also Danelaw ). Many of these words are part of English core vocabulary, such as egg or knife.
We do have some written record of Norn, but it’s not even close to enough to create a language from on its own. And yeah we mostly have no idea how it would’ve been spoken either, all we can do is speculate based on by-ear transcriptions like the Hildina ballad.
