2 de may. de 2024 · El Puente de Blackfriars es uno de los puentes más antiguos y emblemáticos de Londres. Se inauguró en 1869 y sustituyó a un puente anterior que databa del siglo XIII. El puente está construido en hierro forjado y tiene cinco vanos, cada uno de ellos conectado por un arco semicircular.

16 de may. de 2024 · THE BLACK FRIARS. The first Dominicans to enter England arrived at Canterbury in 1221 in the train of Peter des Roches bishop of Winchester. (fn. 1) Three of these came to London in August of that year (fn. 2) and settled in Holborn near the Old Temple.

The Act of 1756 gave powers to form approaches to the bridge but they were considered insufficient and in 1768 a further Act was obtained to make a new road from the southern end of Blackfriars Bridge to "The Dog and Duck," and Newington Butts.
